Paper before shovels, always.
No project breaks ground until you've seen a real planting plan, hardscape layout and a 3D render. You approve the picture — then we make it.
Who We Are · Tewksbury, MA
That's the whole belief Groundwell was built on. Most landscape crews eyeball it, plant it, and leave you guessing in year two. We put the whole thing on paper first — then we're the ones in the dirt making the paper true.
The Short Version
How Groundwell Started
Groundwell got its name the day our founder watched a neighbor pay twice — once for a rushed install that pooled water against the foundation, and again to tear it out. The problem was never the crew's hustle. It was that nobody ever drew the yard before they built it.
So we flipped the order. Every Groundwell project starts on the drafting table at 71 Shawsheen Street: sun mapped, soil read, water routed, plants chosen for the spot they'll actually stand in. Then — and this is the part most studios hand off — the same people who drew it show up to build it.
You're not managing three subcontractors and a shrug. You're working with one studio that stakes its name on the plan matching the ground. That's the whole reason we exist, and it hasn't changed since day one.
What We Stand For
Values are easy to print and hard to keep. Here's how ours actually show up on your lot.
No project breaks ground until you've seen a real planting plan, hardscape layout and a 3D render. You approve the picture — then we make it.
The designer who read your sun and soil runs the build. No mystery subs, no "that wasn't in the drawing" — the pencil and the shovel answer to the same phone.
Stone, plants and labor come priced out before anyone digs. You sign off knowing the number, so the bill at the end matches the bid at the start.
We plant for how it fills in, not how it looks the day the truck leaves. Then we hand you a care rhythm so it keeps getting better.
The People In The Dirt
Groundwell stays deliberately tight-knit. When you call, you reach someone who has stood on your lot. Here's the shape of the team you'll actually work with.
Walks your site, maps the sun and grade, and drafts the full plan set. Same hands are on the crew the morning we break ground.
Grading, hardscape, irrigation and planting — a steady in-house crew that treats your yard like the plan says, not like a rush job.
Sets your watering and pruning rhythm and checks back so the garden fills in the way it was drawn to.
